Breà in the Wilderness, Episode 1: Climbing a Massive Mountain!!!

Hey y’all!!

So guess what?! I have a fun little “Breà in the wilderness, Episode 1″ adventure story for you guys!! hahaha I flew out this past weekend for a quick trip to visit
some friends in Arizona — it was super fun, I had the best time everrrrr!! And you’ll never believe what we did!! We totally CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN!!! Liiike a real, seriousss, actual, full-grown mountainnn LOL It was SO intense!!!! It’s called Camelback Mountain (part of Echo Canyon Park) in Phoenix.

Check it out here! http://phoenix.gov/PARKS/hikecmlb.html
And my personal pics are at the bottom here!!!!

The rewarding view at the top is amazingly beautiful and breathtaking!!! I felt so in touch with nature!!! Hahahaha And it’s an absolutely amazing workout!! It takes almost an hour and a half to get up, and then about 45 minutes to get down… but it’s sooo unbelievably steep at points, you have to be really careful!!

And of COURSE, riiiiight as we’re getting started, we see this guy being carried down by medics, his right ankle the size of a GRAPEFRUIT. I was just like “Ohhh myyyy GOD” LOL But he was wearing sandals, I think that was his downfall, literally.

Anyway, people of all ages and sizes and athletic abilities go up this mountain, including kids and dogs, the thing is just that only about mmm I’d say 40-50% actually make it ALL the way to the top — many people go about halfway, stop when they get to the seemingly impossible parts, and then head back down.

Now I consider myself pretty darn athletic, and even I was getting out of breath at poimts!! haha Not enough to stop, but enough to take a 30-second water break!! (Those Power Bars we brought for the top were definitely necessary for a quick energy boost though!! lol) I’ve been rappelling in the Andes Mountains in Argentina before, but this AZ mountain was WAY bigger!!!

I seriously think going DOWN is harder, cuz it requires more balance than strength, which is what going UP is all about — you have to be extremely precise and think about EVERY step you take before you take it, but at least on the way up, you can more easily use your hands, get on all 4′s if you have to, etc.

It’s so great to get out there and get some seriously fresh air, some hot sun on your skin, feel the sweat come on, get a little dirty!!! (Break-in my new Nikes, up until when I realized that were quickly becoming brown and red from all the gravel?!?!?! LOL — We cleaned ‘em up afterwards, so it’s all good hahaha) And it’s also just really great to see people getting out there any being active, getting in serious shape, helping each other out, it’s wonderful!!

And people are REALLY nice in Arizona!!! Like wayyyyy nicer than Philly/Jersey, as far as I’ve seen!! haha I think it’s pretty obvious why though, they’re not living with ridiculous winter-is-never-going-to-end weather (snow in March, seriously?!), and they have a gorgeous backdrop of mountains and cloud-free sunny skies and palm trees and desert-y flowers to wake-up to everyday!!!!!! Complete strangers were helping us out as we were passing by them, telling us which rocks to avoid using, whether to go left or right, etc… it’s so refreshingly fantastic!!!

SOOO my Breà advice of the day is go try some OUTDOOR ROCK-CLIMBING, you’ll be hooked!!!!!!!!!!

Intimidating, right?!?!?
